The Smoothies Bible

Summer is in full swing and I am loving it. This week has been especially scorching, so I have been all about smoothies the last few days. They are just so refreshing, always delicious and not to mention super easy to make!

My family found The Smoothies Bible by chance one day while shopping and boy are we glad! We use it almost every day; we love it!

The first part of the book looks at 80 common health concerns from allergies, pregnancy, depression and constipation, to MS, heart problems, infertility and more. Each condition is summarized, recommendations are made for foods to minimize and maximize and then it gives you a list of healing foods as well as smoothie recipes incorporating those foods! How cool!

The second part of the book introduces you to over 100 of the ingredients found in The Smoothies Bible’s recipes, whether it be a fruit, vegetable, herb or something else like honey, psyllium, sunflower seeds or tofu. All the ingredients are also summarized, their healing properties explained and where the ingredients can be found. I found this part such a fascinating read. It’s amazing how healing food can be. Truly nature’s pharmacy!

Next comes a whole slew of fruit smoothies, from “Mango Tango”, “Bananarama”, “Eye Opener”, and “Flu Fighter #1 “to “Nectar of the Gods”, “Watermelon Wave” and “Liquid Gold”. Mmm mmm mmm!

Don’t think The Smoothies Bible stops at just fruit smoothies, oh no. There are also has a variety of vegetable smoothie recipes for those brave enough to try one. There’s “Orange Zinger”, “Rustproofer #1 & #2”, “Garden Goodness”, and “Tomato Juice Cocktail”.

The Smoothies Bible also devotes a section to Herb Smoothies. You can find everything from “Healthy Bladder Blitz”, “Teenage Tonic”, “Sleepytime”, “Gas Guzzler”, “Migraine Tonic”, “Hangover Remedy” and even “Liquid Courage”!

Additionally, there is a few recipes for Milk Shakes, Dairy Alternative Smoothies, Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, Frozen Smoothies and even Hot Smoothies like “Mexican Hot Chocolate”!

Packed with nutrients and low in calories, smoothies are a fast, easy and yummy way to help you get your daily intake of fruits and vegetables!

I wish I could share all my favorite Smoothies Bible recipes, but these are two of my very favorite right now:
